Historic Hawthorne Inn in Salem Match Book

Description

Some history of the Inn: The Inn was named after Nathaniel Hawthorne who was born just a few blocks away from where it stands. it was established in 1924 in the heart of Salem.  In the 1950's the name was changed to the Hawthorne Motor Hotel due to the growing number of automobiles. In1960 known as the Inn, but four years later name was changed back to Hawthorne Hotel. In 1970 The TV show Bewitched filmed their Salem Saga there. In 1985 it celebrated its 60th anniversary. In 1990. a seance was held in the Grand Ballroom in hopes of summoning Harry Houdini on the 64th anniversary of his death, of course it was unsuccessful. The first annual Halloween party was held there in 1991.President Bill Clinton visited the Inn in 2001. In 2015 JOY the movie with Robert Deniro and Jennifer Lawrence was partially  shot there. Also in 2015, it received the prestigious 2015 Best City Center Historic Hotel award from the Historic Hotels of America. Some of the famous people who visited are President Bush and his wife Laura; General Colin Powell; Bette Davis and Vanessa Redgrave.
Match book in great condition, This is probably from the 60's since the name was changed back to Hawthorne Hotel at that time.  It  is unused. Note: Due to change at post office and EBay, it now costs about as much to ship one match book as three or four.
