advertising legendary
Santana
at the St. Jakobshalle in Basel [Switzerland] on Wednesday, 8th October, 1975, presented by Good News, and with
Earth, Wind and Fire
as special guests. By this time, Santana were touring in support of the
Borboletta
album, the band’s sixth studio album, produced by Carlos Santana, Michael Shrieve and Tom Coster, and released in October 1974. The record was released in a metallic blue sleeve displaying a butterfly, an allusion to the album
Butterfly Dreams
by Brazilian musician Flora Purim and her husband Airto Moreira, whose contributions deeply influenced the sound of
Borboletta
. In Portuguese,
borboleta
means “butterfly”. Original bassist David Brown returned to replac Doug Rauch and vocalist/keyboardist Leon Patillo joined. After the album’s completion, drummer Michael Skrieve left, to be replaced by Leon “Ndugu” Chancler,  who had guested on parts of the album. The European tour was notable as the group played two shows in Yugoslavia on 4th and 5th October, 1975, their first performances behind the Iron Curtain. The poster features artwork by Swiss artist Peter Blumer.
The poster measures 24.6 x 63.8 cm (approx. 9.7" by 25.1" inches) and is beautifully printed on thin, coated paper stock (coated on front only). In excellent unfolded and unmarked condition, ready to frame.
